Northern Virginia Midwifery, PLLC, is a licensed homebirth practice serving families throughout Northern Virginia.

A very traditional midwife, Tammi McKinley, LM, CPM also provides Well Woman Care, Natural Fertility Planning and Birth Consultation, and she is a Certified
HypnoBirthing Practitioner®.  Most of her families birth in her Gentle Birth Pool which is available for rental.  Her web site has a lot of information that she shares with families, and it includes information about how she practices and her philosophy.

Tammi's focus has always been one of serving her local community.  After she had her own homebirth VBAC in 2000, she reactivated the then-defunct local
ICAN chapter for support for other moms dealing with their cesarean and planning their VBACs.  She created the Northern Virginia Homebirth group in response to the need for homebirth families to connect with one another.  After noticing that the U.S. has no central homebirth web site like the U.K. and Australia do, Homebirth-USA was born.

She is currently leading the effort to have Direct Entry Midwives added as TRICARE Authorized Providers.

After attending the beautiful birth of a baby with Trisomy 13 in 2008, Tammi realized that there is no central support for families facing the challenge of a baby who may not make it.  She created g a repository for resources online for Northern Virginia families so that they have the support that they need.
